Summer of 1947 in Deauville

divingintothepast.jpg

With my grandmother, Léa
Mémé, somewhere between 60 and 63 and Didi, aged 3, in 1947 in Deauville
Léa was called Mémé, by all her grandchildren, and Claude, was nicknamed Didi, for some unknown reason. I can’t remember my father’s mother, Léa, ever smiling. She looks straight into the camera, looking somber. I’m holding my mother’s sunglasses and somebody must be trying to make me look at the camera and smile.
