A manhole covers slideshow

“This and That”
Blogging in Paris

I enjoyed Gail at gailatlarge‘s videoclip Steelworks so much that I thought of putting together some of my numerous manhole covers to make a slideshow out of them.

  1. J.C. Pennetier plays Robert Schumann’s Fantasie Op.17, Scènes D’enfants Op 15 und Phantasiestuecke Op 111, unfortunately out of print at the moment.

  2. My photos of manhole covers on flickr are here.

  1. I’ll never look at manhole covers in the same way again. I had no idea there were so many different kinds. I guess it’s something a lot of people don’t pay much attention to….but you did Claude. Very cool. Thanks.

  2. Absolutely fascinating, Claude. Before seeing your slideshow I would have said “a man-hole cover is a man-hole cover…what’s the big deal?” Wow, was I wrong. Of course my favorite was the one that read “Commune di Firenze”. Great.

  3. I was crossing the street at the doctor’s office the other day and I looked down and there was a manhole cover and I thought of you, Claude.

Your photos prove there is beauty all around us if we look for it.

  4. stunning collection, claude. perfect with the music for a very different kind of French tour.

“manhole covers” by mimi melnick and robert a. melnick is a book you’d enjoy. published by MIT Press, 1994, all are american covers.
