The rose

A rose
The Rose Family

Robert Frost (1874-1963)

T he rose is a rose,
And was always a rose.
But the theory now goes
That the apple’s a rose,
And the pear is, and so’s
The plum, I suppose.
The dear only knows
What will next prove a rose.
You, of course, are a rose –
But were always a rose.

Happy birthday, Julie and many happy returns. I love you.

  1. Peace Rose.

What a lovely poem and a lovely Many Happy returns to Julie.

‘A rose is still a rose by any other name’ is a saying we use all the time.

Nearly fell off the chair – thought where have those two days gone – OK – you fooled me its is Monday.

  2. Dear Julie,

“Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.” (Groucho Marx)
    Yet if…
“[The bad news is time flies. The good news is] you’re the pilot.
    (Michael Althsuler)

    Happy birthday 😉

  3. As soon as I saw the image of the rose, I immediately thought that I could smell a rose. Very strong powers of suggestion. Yes, Happy Birthday Julie!!
And, Claude, is that a change to the masthead I spy?
